Position Title: Electrician – Swing Shift
Position Location: Blanca, CO
Position Description: This position maintains, repairs, modifies, and installs electrical/instrument/computer systems in a wood products manufacturing facility to ensure optimal operations and product flow.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ability to work in a safe manner and comply with all policies and regulations.
- Possess good troubleshooting skills with the ability to repair electrical problems occurring during manufacturing processes.
- Work effectively and safely in a production environment, being flexible and completing deadlines on short notice.
- Must be a positive, proactive self-starter who works equally well alone as well as with others. Must have a desire to continually improve professionally and have a willingness to apply one’s knowledge and skills to the betterment of the operating unit.
- Work in any electrical related activity – for example conduit bracket fabrication, installing conduit, pulling wire, general troubleshooting.
- Communicate issues daily to the maintenance superintendent, operations supervisor, and other maintenance personnel.
- Write, update, and complete work orders as needed.
- Able to learn new technology as it is introduced on the plant site and be able to transfer the knowledge to others, including supervision, production, and maintenance personnel.
- Must be familiar with instrument calibration.
- Must be familiar with computer hardware and software.
- Follow and promote plant site electrical and process control standards.
- Wear/use a variety of personal protective and safety equipment per company standards.
- Familiar with reading 3-view working drawings and schematics.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to check and repair all types of AC circuits to 480 volts (3-phase, single phase, motor controls, motor troubleshooting, and basic control circuits using relay or PLC logic).
- Ability to check, troubleshoot and service AC & DC drives, motors, and controls.
- Ability to use multi-meter, amp meter and other testing equipment for checking circuits, voltages, currents, continuity, etc.
- Ability to use and follow various machine prints and schematics to troubleshoot and repair machine problems.
- Ability to replace defective electrical control devices, with the same type or using a substitute.
- Ability to do wiring repairs, including running conduit and pulling wire.
- Know the theory and operation of PLCs and network communications.
- Use a notebook computer and PLC software for reading programs, modifying programs, and troubleshooting operation of program, etc.
- Requires advanced level training that would require minimum of HS diploma/GED educational background.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and contract personnel.
- Ability to treat others with dignity and respect in a variety of settings.
- Perform follow-up and inspect completed work orders when applicable.
- Proactively support innovation and change.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Possess the ability to lead problem-solving work sessions if asked.
- Must pass drug screen and background check.
- Willing to work any shift, some of which require weekend work.
- Ability to read and apply electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
- Must provide own basic tools to perform routine electrical activities.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic.
- Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have good eye/hand coordination.
- Vision requirements:
- Possess the ability to detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
- Possess the ability to see details at close range.
- Hearing Sensitivity-Possess the ability to detect or tell the difference between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, twist, stand, walk, climb, kneel, carry heavy items, pushing and pulling of weights of up to 50 pounds
Environmental Conditions:
- Work takes place inside and outside buildings during all weather conditions, therefore variable temperatures occur.
- The environment is typically dusty while working on the equipment due to wood fiber.
- Areas exist where floor surfaces are uneven.
- Ability to access equipment includes stairs, elevated catwalks, ladders, and powered manlifts. Access may also include climbing over equipment.
- Able to work in tight/cramped spaces and confined space environments.
